How to make laptop troubleshooting easier?

Before messing things up by dismantling the whole laptop, follow the sequence below and you will notice that, by going through the sequence, your problem might be solved in much simpler way. Practice, and you will see the difference in time taken for laptop troubleshooting.

1. Investigate.
Before messing up the laptop, and wasting your time doing all the repair, there are a few questions that you need to ask.
1. What is the behavior before, and after the problem occurred?
2. Where is the laptop being used?
3. How long the laptop has been used?

2. Check the external parts.
Sometimes, like the problem of no display, laptop cannot start up, could just due to a minor fault in the external parts. For example, spoilt adaptor, short circuited power outlet, or spoilt switch might give us a wrong perception that our laptop computer already spoilt.

3. Check the contacts
A minor miss in contact, for example, the RAM onto the RAM slot might fail the laptop to start up properly. It’s always good to check all the contact points before going deeper to investigate other area.

4. Check the software.
Sometimes, a laptop problem might just because of an incompatible driver, or software. An accidentally deleted system file will stop a window system to function properly. Therefore, this is a very crucial part while troubleshooting a laptop.

5. Clean before repair.
From experience, most of the laptop faults start from dirt, or dust especially after a long use or bad conditioned environment. These types of faults can be easily solved by simple cleaning.

6. Check the power module.
Power module  is the heart of a laptop. Without a proper power distribution to other modules, laptop will behave weirdly. You may stop checking other modules as it will not functioning properly.  Check the external adaptor on the output voltage and current, a spoilt adaptor can cause a lot of problems to the laptop.

7. Common issues first.
There are a lot of common issues on certain model of laptop. By knowing them, you will find it easier to troubleshoot on the root cause of the laptop problem. Hence, it helps to shorten the time of troubleshooting. A proper guide might help in this.

8. Start from Simplest.
The difficulty on dismantling a laptop can be quite different from one model to another, as such, always start from the simplest during the troubleshooting phase. Check the parts or slots that are easier to dismantle and isolate the problem. 

Last but not least, experience and practice makes perfect.

With a dirty laptop LCD screen, people will start wondering, what is the way to clean the laptop screen effectively, without damaging the laptop screen? I heard that laptop screen is very fragile, I really don't want to spoil laptop just because of cleaning it.

Here comes the steps of how to clean your laptop LCD screen.

If your laptop LCD screen is dusty, you may clean the laptop screen by blowing off the dust with vacuum. After that, with moisten cloth, clean the laptop LCD screen gently as below. I would recommend to get a cleansing kit that comes with cloth and brush.

Step 1: Prepare a moisten cloth/ cloth from cleaning kit/ simply a soft tissue.

Step 2: Clean the screen clockwise, left to right, top to bottom (My way, which you can follow =) )

选购电脑该问的问题?

关于网友刘瀚毅的问题,本文相对的做了一些简介,让大家在选择电脑时有些头绪.

当然,在购买笔记本时,预算肯定是最重要的问题.有了个大概之后,那就先问问自己以下的几个问题吧!
1. 电脑,笔记本的用途是什么?
    当然,用途如果是玩电脑游戏,如魔兽等的话,那对电脑硬件的要求可要高许多.笔记本相对的可要比台式机贵许多,本人的建议是,如果有较少的预算的话,台式机还是比较好的选择.
    如果只是上网、打笔记、听听歌和看电影,那基本上市面上所谓900多新币的电脑已可应付你的要求.

2. 笔记本的重量,体积大小是问题吗? 如果笔记本将只用于家里的话,本人建议买大点,重点的笔记本,因为这样的笔记本,相对有较大的屏幕.而且,价钱也较便宜.笔记本的体积,越大的话,价格就越便宜. 相对的,如果是推销员,或是用于学校,重量可就是需要考虑的问题了, 因为你将会带着它到处跑,到时,肩膀上的重量就有得你受了.近来市面上有10" 寸,或8" 的笔记本,价格还蛮合理的,对基本要求也应该足够了,对我来说,唯一的缺点是较慢,而且太小.

3. 品牌对你来说重要吗?索尼 (sony), 富士通 (Fujitsu) 相对的会较贵些. 而且零件也只有特定的零售商有,间接的,如有任何问题的话,维修费也较高.

4. 电脑芯片如果是英特尔(intel) 的话, 一般上会较贵些,但因为英特尔(intel) 芯片的稳定性还是不错的,我相信这是值得花钱的地方.买了电脑,最重要的还是稳定性.

5.硬盘空间. 如果你想下载,或存放电影的话,硬盘空间是越大越好.目前的硬盘还蛮便宜的,本人推荐除了笔记本自带的硬盘以外,买个移动硬盘.把重要的文件存放在多个地方,以避免任何电脑故障而导致文件遗失.

6.电脑笔记本使用期. 有些人喜欢在几年换一次电脑,那我推荐买较便宜的系列.因为电脑这东西,同样的配置会在几年后便宜许多,那时,再买你想要的那型号也不错.

希望以上的问题,可以让你在选择购买电脑笔记本时有些帮助.本人的建议,以自己的能力,预算,来买个适用的笔记本. 记得, 便宜的,不代表就不好,贵的,不代表一定好.戴尔(Dell),惠普(HP),东芝(Toshiba),宏碁(Acer),都有便宜但不错的型号.值得考虑.

你好,电脑上不了网有好些原因.
 1. 网卡有问题.
 2. 网络有问题
 3. 电脑系统有问题

如要对症下药,有些需要你让我知道的问题.

1. 请问你是用无线上网呢?还是有线的?无线的话,就好办多了.
   - 到朋友家, 借用他家的网络,如果不断线, 那就是你家的网络有问题.
   - 如果还是上不了网,  ,借用网线来上网.如果不断线,那就是网卡有问题.因为无 线网卡和有线网卡是不一样的.
   - 如果总结是都上不了网,那电脑系统可能有问题了.重安装网卡驱动再试以下,如果还是不行,那相信是时候让网卡退休了.
2. 如果是有线的话, 可能需要朋友的帮忙,利用他的电脑,用同样的网线上网, 如果可以上网而不断网,那证明你的电脑有问题了.

如果是电脑有问题,.该如何测试是网卡的问题,还是系统的问题呢?很简单,以下几个步骤可以让你知道你的网卡是好还是坏了.

A slower computer performance might due to some of the possible causes listed below: 

1. Infected by virus - You may run a virus scanning to the current system for the status of the computer.   Personally, i strongly recommend avast! antivirus for the feature of boot time scanning, for which will help to clean the system properly. 

2. Infected by spyware. Spyware, sometimes might also known as adware, can cause the system to slow down tremendously. Proper anti spyware will help to keep the system clean from the notorious spyware. Spybot is one of the good, and free resource for system guardian. Another option for this is, Avast! Professional Edition of antivirus that bundle the antispyware together, this will ensure your system to be clean at all time.

3. System is Overly secured. Sometimes, people tends to think that, having more antivirus software can help to improve the system security, and get rid of all sorts of viruses. However, having more antivirus software actually causing the system to be even slower, as system monitoring is done by different antivirus and it is also meant that there will be a lot of resources used for the monitoring. Having a good antivirus is more than enough.

4. Too many installations and uninstallations. Every time when we install a program, there are some parameters set into the registry, which can be considered a store manager who keeps all the license information, the path to the program and some useful information the program needed to function properly.  However, during the uninstallations, some of the unused registry key will still lying around. As the amount of the junk registry keys growing, it will eventually causing the system to perform slower. CCleaner is one of the good and free tool to help cleaning your system, including all the files in temporary folder. A link is provided in this website for the download of CCleaner.

5. Fragmented hard disk. After a lot of savings and deletion of data, hard disk will start to be fragmented. It becomes harder and harder for the system to look for a file. We will cover this in details on another post. As such, defragmentation is recommended to be executed monthly. 

Boot Time Scan .... The best way to clean your infected computer

Virus infections are sometimes unavoidable to a normal user, as it can be infected thru browsing virus active content, from a USB thumbdrive, removable media and even, sometimes from a friendly message, from our closed buddy in messenger that leads to a virus active page.

There are a few symptoms to look for when checking your computer on whether it is virus infected.

1. Slowness in executing program.

2. Funny or weird behaviour with your mouse click.

3. Computer shut down by itself.

and many more.

The best way to identify virus infection is by installing a good antivirus software. For the software to be effective, as normally antivirus cannot clean the virus while the window system is running, it would requires the antivirus to have a boot time scanning feature.

The good news for home users is, you can use the Home Edition FOR FREE!!! by just registering yourself through the website.Of course, professional edition will definitely have more features, like scanning task scheduling. USB threats and the solution

Since the invention of USB thumbdrives and the reduction in price for removable hard disk, the removable media has been popularly used everywhere. Whenever a removable media is connected to our computer, the best practice is to right click and explore the disk, in order not to execute any executable in the disk if the disk is infected. However, due to the easy way of accessing the removable media, we will just double click to open the drive after connected.

It was my recent experience where most of the computers in my company are infected by the usb autorun viruses. In order to prevent such tragedy to happen, for which might even causing the loss in data, the best way is to have a monitor tool or good antivirus to prevent you from infected.

In the market, we have a number of options for antivirus. However, when a computer is infected by a virus, it will be more difficult to clean the virus. As the saying, "Prevention is better than cure", it's always good to have a guardian to alert us when a USB thumbdrive or removable hard disk is infected.

Methodologically, it's always good if we know that there's a mine in the field, before we stepped on the mine and try to clear the mine from us.
