Slow in accessing folders or My Computer

I experienced delay while open My Computer or any of the folders in my computer. Though it is not a significant delay, however, I always like to finetune the system as much as I can.

Normally, the delay is caused by an option in Folder Options. In order to remove the delay, you may follow the steps below:

Go to My Computer - Tool - Folder options. Click on the View tab,  uncheck the option, Automatically search for network folders and printers. Click on OK and restart the computer.

Remove SanDisk U3 Launch Pad

After using my 16G SanDisk thumb drive for a while, I started to wonder how to remove the U3 launchpad, as my thumb drive is solely used for simple storage purpose. Below are the details of the experiment...

The best place to find safe and tested software is always the manufacturer's site. As expected, there's a removal tool for the U3 launchpad. Complete details can be found here . After download and run the executable, the launchpad is completely gone. YES!!

In order to test the reinstallation of the launchpad, I downloaded the launchpad installer here . Voila! the launchpad is back to work.

This is simple demonstration on finding some alternatives for the default program that is installed onto our thumbdrive, or laptop system. Though the intention is good to provide us with the tools, sometimes, it might not be necessary to have the tool. As such, it's good to know the alternative ways to simplify the system.

Solution to slow shut down in XP (Stuck on "Saving your settings" screen)

This is the problem i had for months before I found out the solution eventually. While shutting down my machine, The screen with "Saving your Settings" will load and take more than 2 minutes before it shut down properly.

After looking for information on google and tried out a lot of combination, finally the problem solved. To benefit those people who have the same experience as I had, below is the summary of the problem I had and the solution to it.

Symptom:
System "hang" at the "Saving your settings" screen for minutes before shutting down successfully; Slow logoff (with Saving Settings for most of the time while logging off).

Cause:
This problem can be caused for a variety of reasons. However, one of them is the improper coding either in Microsoft software or 3rd party software.  With the information provided by the system, there is no way to find out what software needs to be corrected to allow profiles to unload.

Solution:
  1. Download UPHClean(User Profile Hive Cleanup service here
  2. Install UPHClean and run it from the installation folder.
  3. Done. Restart the system and the problem is solved.
